About the Program

The Engineering Girls Internship program at CSULB was designed for middle-school female students who are academically-advanced in mathematics/science and show potential and interest in learning about engineering/technology. This hands-on project-based program is intended to broaden studentís knowledge of various aspects of the engineering discipline via curriculum designed to correlate with existing K-12 content standards. It also incorporates NASA educational content to introduce students to the important work done by professional engineers and scientists dealing with space exploration, air traffic safety, and scientific research that greatly influence the future of our nation. Aside from traditional classroom-style learning, a number laboratory-based activities will make use of engineering tools and software. To provide relevance to the classroom/ laboratory component, field-trips to engineering industry will allow interns to experience real-world application. Students will have the opportunity to interface with engineering and human factors university professors, professional engineers, and engineering managers. Teamwork, professional communication, and etiquette are emphasized as part of a unit on academic skills success and life-long learning. For questions, please send an e-mail to:
